Sunday
Dailey & Vincent - I am so sorry I missed most of this doing laundry of all things. I caught the last 3 numbers and wow, are they good. Bill and Dan told me they did a number of gospel songs and some great four-part harmony.
Bela Fleck & Brooklyn Rider - This is Bela with a four string quartet. Different but pretty. Also a bit on the avante guard side.
Nicki Bluhm & the Gramblers - I took a two group break for lunch and changing clothes, so I missed these guys.
Jerry Douglas presents The Earls of Leicester - ditto
Greensky Bluegrass - These guys were another highlight of the show. Great bluegrass, old and new.
Ray Lamontagne - skipped for dinner but what I heard was not my style.
Telluride House Band - This was a true highlight. Allison Krauss, Sam Bush, Del McCoury, Bela Fleck, Jerry Douglass (dobro) and a bunch of others. Just some of the finest bluegrass music and a great finale ending the weekend. I do wish that Allison had sung more. Of course I wish that all of them played longer - it was that good.
Final Musical Thoughts
This was a great event to go to. I don't know that I'd go every year, but I'm certainly glad I went this year. I found some new music to love, saw some great and unique performances in a setting that is nearly too beautiful to describe. Silly stuff like marshmallow fights, the goofy guy dancing the first two days, people dancing behind the sound tower, the banter up on the stage. These are all great memories and I may come back for more some day.
