Flathead Lake
We essentialy rode around the park toward East Glacier Park Village where we had lunch or dinner (depending on your point of view), then on south highway 2, coming back to Kalispel, but this time we skirted the east side of it heading to Flathead Lake on highway 35. We finally got to a campground only to find out they were full. The guy in charge looked like he was going to be grumpy about 5 bikers rumbling into his campground, but I just put on my "gee can you help us" attitude and he was all smiles and very helpful. We eventually found a great spot, very private at the next state campground we found at Yellow Bay. And just in time too, we got our tents set up as it was getting dark. One thing about touring during August is that it gets a bit warm. So it was nice to be able to take a swim after the sun went down and then settle in for the evening.
Day three dawned just as beautiful as the other days. This is why I wanted to make a trip like this. Every day you get up and see something great. Sometimes it's sunrise, but in our case we never got up that early. But we did eventually get up and having broken camp, tried to decide what we were going to do for breakfast. Polson is at the south end of the lake and seemed large enough to have a nice place to eat, so off we went with me in the lead. Of course I have no idea where I'm going, at least in terms of a good place to eat, so I'm just sort of wandering and everyone is just following along - pretty dumb of them actually. But I ended up making a good decision.
