We had lunch at the Log Inn Pub near Avola. Alas, we didn't think to take any pictures, which is a shame because it was such a great place to eat. Good food, colorful people - what more could you ask for? While there we met a nice guy from New Zealand that was with a group of 18 from his country touring the western half of the U.S. and Canada. We would see him and others from his group over the next couple of days.
From Avola to Jasper it pretty much rained off and on the rest of the day. So we don't have much in the way of pictures there either. Suffice it to say that it was very wet as we rolled into Wapiti Campground just outside of Jasper. The only interesting thing that happened was that Tim found a perfectly good tent near the dumpster - poles and all. So he covered his tent with it. I called it "tent-ception", but I had to explain it to them.
Day 4 - Friday, July 29, 2011
The next morning we packed up and went back to Jasper for some breakfast. While there we met two motorcycling priests who had had a tough time the night before due to one of their tents being somewhat leaky. God provides in weird ways, because we had that spare tent and Tim made sure they got it stashed on their bikes for the next leg of their trip.
After that we were off to enjoy the beautiful Icefields Parkway. I will preface the next bunch of text and pictures by saying that I've never been on a more beautiful highway in my life. Staggerinly beautiful vistas on each hand every mile. Had we stopped at each place and took pictures, we'd still be there. First stop was Athabasca Falls which was a short hop from our camping area last night.
