We quickly set up camp and then headed down to the lake for a swim. We were all having a great time until my brother Dave lost his GoPro in the water trying to film a front flip. We all looked in vain for hours but it was a short-lived disappointment as Tim "the pearl diver" Pontius came up with it and surprised Dave back at camp. That made for a great evening and we had that, cooking dinner and having a great time around the campfire.

We next headed to Glacier National Park. A few of us had been there before, but going again is no chore. We continued from Seeley Lake along highway 83, riding past Swan Lake which is just east of the much larger Flathead Lake. We stopped for lunch at Laurie's Deli in Columbia Falls. I wish they had a website, for I would give their link here. With them making their own bread, the sandwiches were awesome and the family that runs the place were very nice - good sense of humor! As we continued toward the park, we stopped at the KOA just a couple miles south of West Glacier to set up camp and then it was off to ride the Going to the Sun Road. The weather was perfect and the only road construction was on the flat part of the road past Lake McDonald Lodge. click to enlarge The lodge, by the way, is quite beautiful and worth a stop just to wander through it. We stopped for a couple of souvenirs and then hit the road again. Once we started climbing there were no delays aside from nervous drivers. There was a short stretch where I was able to release a few more horses from the V-Strom and enjoy the curves at a faster speed. Exhilarating! click to enlarge Those of us with GoPro cameras had them running the whole way up. My footage ended up not being too good, which was very disappointing, but Dave's and Grants turned out fine. We stopped at Logan Pass and walked around a bit, then started getting ready to go back down.
