Last Thoughts

Total mileage was roughly 1875 miles and except for the wind and rain of Sunday, the weather was great, if just a bit too hot. Every trip I learn something and this trip the primary thing I learned was that if you're planning a route by places you want to stop and see, you need to allot a couple hours each stop so you don't cut yourself short at the end of the day. The other thing is that if you're going to find a place to camp each day without making reservations, then you need to set the time between 4-5pm to do that. In the summer it gives you plenty of time then to make camp, dinner, and still have time to relax at the end of the day. Once we settled into that routine, the rest of the trip was very enjoyable. I tend to use these trips as a bit of a scouting ride to find places to take my wife later. I think we'll come back to Yellowstone to see it in more detail, but I think I'll try it when it's a little cooler.
