After lunch we travelled down 97 and just before the border turned east on 3 to head back to Midway because it'd be more fun than going through Oroville. And fun it was. Lot's of nice twisty sweepers that kept us grinning the whole time. Most of the time when I'm at a border crossing there's always a line. But not at Midway. I rolled up completely unprepared - turn off the bike, the ipod, yank the helmet off, pull my earplugs out. In the middle of this I handed the US Border Officer my enhanced driver's license not wanting to keep him waiting, but he smiled and told me to take my time. This guy was probably the nicest US officer I'd come across. click to enlarge He did his job efficiently, but with a smile and nice conversation. Bill ended up chatting with him for a bit because they knew people in common. That Bill - he knows people! Getting back into the USA, we connected back up with SR21, turned left onto SR20 and crossed back over Sherman Pass (in the rain) and rolled into Kettle Falls. I was going to be late for a BBQ so I waved goodbye to Bill and Dave and headed on into Colville to get going south on 395 and into Spokane. Bill and Dave ended up doing the same thing about 30 minutes behind me after deciding that the dark clouds would be ruining the scenic route back home.

The two days were about 625 miles or so and except for a very few stretches, the roads were great. Rain? Who cares! I had an unexpected road trip that I really needed to unwind with. I'm never sorry to ride into Canada and have some fun on really great roads!
