Sunday dawned sunny and we're up with a decent night's sleep except for John. Bill and I didn't find out about this until later, but John didn't sleep a wink. Camping really isn't his thing and the neighbors kept talking until 2:30am. After they quieted down, the normal noises of the evening kept him awake. Anyway, we took off to find a place for breakfast. While riding Bill saw signs for a breakfast place along the lake and we decided to stop there. I can't remember what the name of the place is, but you can see the pictures of the place. It's built in front of an old mine that was pretty cool to look at, located very near the Woodbury Resort. I called it the home of the breakfast nazi because he reminded me a little of that Seinfeld episode with the soup nazi. There were basically two breakfast items: the breakfast burrito and the bacon-and-egger. Whatever we tried to order he only wanted to make 3 of them. Bill wanted the burrito, I wanted the bacon-and-egger, John wanted some fruit. We eventually convinced him to do it our way, but it was done with some grumbling. We had a good laugh about it, but it was quite tasty.

After that we stopped in Kaslo so John could get a piece of pie. Continuing west on 6 toward New Denver we got into one of the better roads in BC. Bill and I had both been on this before and were really looking forward to it and it never disappoints. Beautiful scenery and tons of twisties!!

After stopping for a few minutes to laugh and chat about what a great road that is, we continued up 6 to Nakusp where we took another break, walking through town a bit. After that we follow 6 as it heads south to the Fauquier ferry. After crossing Slocan Lake we continue on 6 toward Vernon. This is another great road. We had a bit more traffic here which made for some hairy riding if you wanted to take it at a rapid pace. There are only a few decent places to pass, but Bill and I made the most of them. John was content to catch up to us at a more leisurely pace. We stopped at Cherryville to eat at the Gold Pan Inn, which is another repeat restaurant for us. As always, there are plenty of motorcycles there, this being a popular destination road. click to enlarge Bill chatted with a guy who told us of a great road on the west side of Okanogan Lake that we decided to try and find. After wolfing down my Gold Pan Burger, we continued on into Vernon. While John headed straight to Penticton, Bill and I tried to find the road, but didn't go quite far enough to find it. So we continued on 97 on down into Penticton where John had checked into a hotel for a much needed night's rest, while Bill and I found a spot nearer to Skaha Lake and set up camp. After showering, we walked down to Anthony's Pub for a spot of dinner. It was a pleasant evening to eat outside and chat about the day's ride as well as whatever else came up. What a great day.
