Bikes page

June 18, 2011

It's been awhile since I made an entry on the site. The engine came back from the shop last month, but I was too busy to get to doing anything with it. A little bit of cleaning here and there was about all. Finally this month I finally got some free time. So I took to cleaning it in earnest. Scaping, using a wire brush wheel on my drill, and finally some engine cleaner - twice - got the engine ready to paint.

So today I painted it with some flat black engine paint. I am very pleased with the way it turned out. Paint hides a lot! I should have taken a before picture, but really it didn't look much different than when I took it to the shop in the first place. The only really odd thing was the replacement head was silver. That's the other reason to paint it.

Since I had more time today, I waited until it was dry and got it mounted in the frame. That really makes it start to look like a motorcycle again.

The next thing for me to do is to get the parts put on that will allow the bike to run. I want to make sure the bike runs before getting a lot further. So it'll be electrical system, battery (when I can buy one), and exhaust, which I painted back in January.
